No matter in public or at home, today’s children are almost with their eyes on their mobile phones, or even an iPad in their hands. Otherwise, they are staring at TV, watching animation or playing games. However, when you don’t pay attention, it will affect your baby’s language ability!

Parents please don’t “coax” the children with the TV again, be careful that the children won’t talk!

According to a new study published in the Journal of children and media, when parents play with their children, the normal development of their children’s language ability will be hindered by the use of TV as the “background”.

In this study, researchers from Hollins University observed 49 parents interact with children aged 1, 2 and 3 for one hour. In the process of interaction, half the time to turn off the TV and the other half to turn on the TV as the background, there is a suitable TV program for older children and adults on the TV. The results showed that when the TV was turned on as the background, the number of words (including new words) used by parents in the process of parent-child interaction and the number of children exercising were significantly less than when the TV was turned off. Even if the child doesn’t pay attention to the content of TV, parents will watch TV while playing with the child. The less vocabulary input parents give their children, the less their children’s language development lags behind. Therefore, the research shows that “background” TV has a negative impact on children’s play and parent-child interaction quality, especially on children’s language development.

Dr Tiffany pimpike, who led the study, said the results were important because children under 2 years of age in the United States were exposed to television “background” for an average of 5.5 hours a day. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that children under the age of 2 should not watch TV, use computers or play with mobile phones.

In a word, parents please don’t “coax” children with TV any more. It’s really bad to be careful that children can’t speak. Here, we suggest that you Baba hemp. Please help the baby quit TV as soon as possible, form a good habit of loving reading, be the best playmate of the child, don’t take busy as the reason, and interact with the child more.
